Justice Bosio has barely shaken off the jet lag from Europe, but she’s already back in tournament mode at Dubbo Golf Club, calm, relaxed, and quietly hungry for a result.
This week’s Ford Women’s NSW Open Regional Qualifier is her first of the summer, and while it’s not the biggest event on her calendar, it comes at a pretty perfect moment. After four and a half months overseas chasing her LET card—then a quick two-week stop at home before flying back for one last tournament in Spain—she finished just two shots short of securing her status.
“That kind of sucked,” she says honestly.
“But you learn a lot when you’re playing every week. It’s tiring, and it’s tough, but sticking to what you do well makes a massive difference. I learned heaps about my game.”
Those lessons will be put to the test again next month when she heads to LET Q-School Second Stage. She’s earned the right to skip the first week, and now the goal is simple: to finish inside the top 20 and start next season with full status.
But for now, she’s happy to be in Dubbo.
“A win would be great,” she admits.
“That’s what everyone’s trying to do, get the job done now and not worry about the February qualifiers.”
She’s never played Dubbo before, but you wouldn’t know it from how relaxed she seems. She hasn’t played many competitive rounds since the Webex Players Series event in Adelaide five weeks ago, but she’s been putting in the work—tweaks to her swing, some new routines, even a new putting method.
“I’ve been learning AimPoint,” she laughs.
“This week’s kind of my trial run. The greens look pretty good though, so hopefully I roll a few in.”
Even her so-called “time off” hasn’t been quiet.
“I’ve been home about three weeks, but I only really had five days off. I actually got an invite to Cathedral Invitational today, so I’ll go there before Q-School. I think I like being busy.”
And that’s probably why she looks so comfortable here. Dubbo isn’t about pressure; it’s about rhythm. It’s a chance to reconnect with the Aussie girls she hasn’t seen in months, enjoy a couple of laid-back days of golf, and maybe tick off a pretty big box before Christmas.
Two days, a course she’s never seen, and a player who’s picked up a whole lot of experience this year, enough to make this week more interesting than your average qualifier.
Bosio’s ready to give it a crack as Round One tees off tomorrow morning.
